Ten Paces and Draw

My illustration class got to do pieces for Ten Paces and Draw, a blog were illustrators get to collaberate with one another. Every week they choose a topic and illustrators are asked to make artworks that fit that topic. The participants send in sketches and are paired up with someone else and each of them finishes what the other has started. The theme for my week was best or worst day ever and I was pair with Rachel Dougherty, one of the creators of the blog! From her sketch this is what I came up with for the final.

Modern Jekyll and Hyde

These are characters for a modern version of Jekyll and Hyde about a buiness lady that hates having to be fancy all the time but doesn;t want to dissapoint her CEO parents so she drinks this magic soda that transforms her for a short amount of time into the gross fatty Mr. Hyde! Through him she gets to live her dreams of pizza, video games, and internet trolling.

And then there were more characters

My character design final! We had to make some characters for a story that we made up. I wanted to do some kind of space adventure so somehow I came up with the idea of space DJ kids saving the world with their hot beats. They have to save all the people that were corrupted by the bad DJs, whose music fills your mind with evil thoughts and makes you want to do bad stuff!! I don't really know how successful these guys were... I might add one more character...

Some Dudes

Here are some bros from the book Jojo and the Fiendish Lot. They are twins and in a rock band and are really hardcore. Also they are dead. The first guy is in his afterlife form and the second guy is in his regular old human form. And the first guy isn't the sheriff, thats his SOUL.

Mucho Macho!!!!

The longest post!! I designed a deck of playing cards for my Illustration 2 final and my theme for them was luchadors because I think that they are awesome. I was trying to get a hero/villian kind of feel with these based off of the idea of the Rudos and the Tecnicos in actual lucha libre. The joker is just some guys having a good time though. I also included other random Mexican references! Like tacos!

Radiolab- Zoos

I did an illustration for a Radiolab podcast about zoos impact on the animals that lived there. Basically, it talked about how the animals living in the enclosures are happier if their surroundings mimic their natural habitat and if there are many ways they can stimulate their brain within the habitat. So here are some gorillas having some good times in their fancy enclosure!

Ballerina Lady-Man

I did a collaberation with another student on this man. We drew sketches based on this weird french word generator and then we traded. My partner drew this little ballerina baby/man with a crazy outfit when she got the words appaling and ballerina. So this guy is an appaling ballerina. That is why he is flicking everyone off! Also his body makes no sense and stuff and this is so weird...

Sailor Moon Redesign

In Concept art we were recreating a story/movie/video game/whatever to make it something new and I chose to do Sailor Moon! I thought that instead of magical girls the sailors should be actual sailors/pirates that explore space and conquer evil! But also do some evil stuff too because they are pirates. But nothing that bad, just like stealing some stuff sometimes... they know where to draw the line. Anyways, we had to draw one character concept and one enviorment concept so here is Sailor Moon and some magical space!

This is my first finished enviorment type thing so its kind of crazy...
